The German-taught state examination program “Human Medicine” is offered by University of Cologne. Its duration is 6 years and 3 months. Moreover, the last 12 months involve a practical training of 48 weeks in clinics. The course is divided into two sections: first stage of study spanning a duration of two years and second phase of study with a duration of four years including the practical year. Among the elective subjects are: General medicine, Anesthesia, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and venereology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Geriatrics, Ear, nose and throat medicine, and many more. Uppn completion of the program, graduates are able to work at clinics, health economics, in clinic management, as well as in science journalism or science management, and others.
