Description
The “Master of Arts in Languages and Cultures of the Islamic World” program at the University of Cologne is with a length of 4 full-time semesters. The course's material is broken into three sections: One sub-area provides Islamic world cross-cultural expert knowledge in relation to the fundamental topic complexes of epistemology (knowledge balance), society, and cultural interaction. The Arabic-Islamic, Iranian-Islamic, and Malay-Indonesian-Islamic cultural areas, as well as their associated specialist languages, are represented in the two other sub-areas, which serve on the one hand to develop language skills and on the other hand to impart knowledge specific to the cultural area on language, literature, politics, and social history. Admission requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures of the Islamic World, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, Iranian Studies, Oriental Studies with 40 relevant CP Arabic or Persian totaling 30 CP.
