The University of Cologne's "Master of Education in Learning Area Natural and Social Sciences" program includes a study profile for educating special needs children. Over the course of four full-time semesters, a combination of lectures and extensive practical training is used to offer technical and didactic skills. A practical semester of at least 5 months in the chosen themes and a kind of school that suits the planned teaching career is completed in the second semester of the master's degree.
