A study profile for training special needs students is available at the University of Cologne's "Master of Education in Music" program. Various lectures and substantial practical training are utilized to provide technical and didactic skills throughout the course of four full-time semesters. In the second semester of the master's degree, students complete a practical semester of at least 5 months in the chosen themes and in a school that matches the anticipated teaching position. A bachelor's degree, as well as verification of 144 appropriate credit points from completed courses, "acceptable teaching certification," and "compatible" disciplines, are all necessary.
