The “Master of Arts in North American Studies” program at the University of Cologne is with a standard length of 4 semesters. The curriculum emphasizes North American history, culture, art, literature, language, cinema, poetry, philosophy, media theory, society, and law, as well as ties with the Caribbean and Latin America. Students can also pursue courses in politics and economics as part of a collaboration with Bonn. There are four advanced modules and one specialized module in the curriculum, all of which must be completed. With its emphasis on research, the curriculum prepares students for careers in international relations, journalism, culture management, publishing and library services, public relations, advertising, tourism, international organizations, and education, among other sectors.
