The “Bachelor of Arts in Protestant Religious Education (Teacher Training for Special Needs Education)” program at the University of Cologne aims to prepare students for teaching positions in special needs education. During 6 full-time semesters, the course considers the general learning and teaching prerequisites of this type of school, particularly from a didactic standpoint, in terms of developmental psychological prerequisites and appropriate didactic models, the importance of religion in school and in the daily lives of children and young people, conveying basic knowledge of the bible, and interpreting religion from various learning viewpoints.
