The University of Cologne's "Master of Arts in Slavic Studies" program builds on the bachelor's degree in the same name and is more research-oriented than Eastern and Central European regional studies. Over the course of four semesters, an in-depth investigation of literary and/or linguistic, cultural, and historical content and concerns in the chosen language and cultural region leads to an interdisciplinary viewpoint. The techniques and methods employed include philological-interpretative, linguistic, historical, and general cultural-scientific procedures and methodologies. Graduates of the degree program are capable of presenting the subject's core ideas as well as their own research findings in an academic or non-academic setting.
