Description
The degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Special Needs Specialization: Intellectual Development” is offered by University of Cologne with a standard duration of 6 semesters. It must be combined with the subjects: special needs education I and II, Subject I or learning area I, Teaching subject II or learning area II FS Intellectual development is studied as special needs education II. The curriculum for special needs education makes students able to deal with heterogeneity and diversity in an educational and didactic way, following the guiding principle of inclusion, self-determination and participation. Upon graduation, graduates are able to build successful careers at schools and other social fields. However, for admission, level B1 in one language is required, level A2 GER in another language, as well as a sufficient knowledge of English.
