The University of Education Karlsruhe, founded in 1962, is a public university seated in Karlsruhe, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Round about 3,700 students are enrolled there in Bachelor and Master degree programs related and unrelated to teaching. The Unversity breaks down into three faculties: the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Languages and Literature Studies and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Cultural Sciences, Mathematics and Sports. The scope of studies unrelated to teaching includes the degree programs “Bachelor Childhood Education“, “Bachelor Physical Activity, Health and Recreation“, “Master Philosophy and Science of Education“, “Master Biodiversity and Environmental Education“, “Master Intercultural Education, Migration and Plurilingualism“, as well as “Master Cultural Mediation“. Added to this are the extra-occupational continuing education Master programs “Education in Old Age“, as well as “Content and Language Integrated Learning“. As a university with the right to confer doctoral degrees, the University of Education Karlsruhe also provides the opportunity for a doctorate in the field of Education or Teaching Methodology.
