Early Childhood Education concerns the education of children from birth to the age of 8. It is important insofar as that is the period when children start to develop their social skills, attention spans and behavior in general. Early Childhood Education students learn about the importance of interaction in education and explore different methods of teaching children. Subjects taught in Early Childhood Education programs typically include Foundations of Teaching, Pedagogy in Early Childhood, Growth and Motor Development, Arts Education, Teacher Preparation, Early Language and Reading Development, Early Child Perspective, Violence Prevention and others. Students learn teaching techniques that can be applied to special needs pupils and how to approach disabled or disadvantaged children as well.
