The University of Göttingen, founded in 1737, is a privately funded university seated in Göttingen, Lower Saxony. It is both the oldest and largest university throughout Lower Saxony. Approximately 30,600 students are currently prepared for a successful career start in 80 subjects in the fields of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Informatics, Law, Economic Sciences, Social sciences, Humanities and Theology, as well as Medicine. The University breaks down into 13 faculties: the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Faculty of Biology and Psychology, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Economic Sciences, the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Theology, as well as the Faculty of Medicine (University Medical Center). Moreover, English-language programs at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level, binational degrees, and mandatory studies abroad make students eligible for the international labor market. Depending on the individual study program, the following degrees can be obtained at the University of Göttingen: B.A., B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc., M.Ed., LL.M., State Examination, PhD, and various doctoral degrees.
