Demography involves the statistical tracking of populations, their size, structure and distributions, as well as changes that occur in them, like birth and death rates. Demography is important because it follows the course of natural population changes and could give us valuable information on how to evaluate them and help society lead a sustainable lifestyle for future generations. Demography degree courses cover a wide variety of subjects, most commonly Population Studies, Global Health and Development, Population, Poverty & Policy, Social Change, Geographic Information Systems, Social Statistics, Economics of Population and more. Students also have the opportunity to carry out research, and discuss current topics in Demography like Contemporary Issues in Public Health, and Social Science of the Internet. The aim of Demography degree courses is to provide students with demographic methods and techniques, the means to analyze and research, and valuable and transferable professional skills.
