For a period of 6 semesters the University of Kiel offers the Bachelor’s degree “Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering Materials Science”. The course commences in the winter semester. Additionally, business administration with its sub-disciplines such as marketing and quality control, as well as project management are covered. Moreover, the degree has an emphasis on practical experience. Candidates examine the characteristics of different materials, such as metals, ceramics, and semiconductors, to see how they react under particular conditions and what that means for their usefulness. They also learn how to work with computers and how to communicate with others. A practical semester and the preparation of the bachelor thesis in conjunction with a firm are also part of the program.
