The University of Kiel provides the degree program “Master of Medicine in Hospital Management”, which lasts for 2 years. During the course of the year students will learn the basic medical knowledge and framework conditions that are critical to the procedures in a hospital setting. In addition to the medical criteria for hospital organisation, applicants will also study procedures in administration and patient care. Throughout the course, students are exposed to lectures and internships that provide them a complete theoretical and practical understanding of how medical personnel at all levels of big hospitals function. During this course, students will learn how to apply analytical thinking and judgement to come to economic decisions. By the end of their studies students will receive 60 credit points and they can be involved in activities associated with commercial management of hospitals following graduation.
