The University of Kiel offers the two-subject degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese Philology (Subject Supplement Profile)”, which begins in the winter semester and has a duration of 3 years. With this degree, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out difficult tasks relating to texts and communication in Portuguese after they graduate. The philology course is still a reading course and demands a willingness and pleasure to become familiar with a foreign language in speech and writing and to study the most important works in the original. The bachelor's degree prepares students for careers in sectors such as school and higher education, media, publishing, and libraries, and translation, among others. By the end of their studies students receive 110 credit points.
