With a length of four semesters, the research-oriented “Master of Science in Biological Sciences” is provided by the University of Konstanz. Entirely English-taught, the course offers in-depth knowledge in the biosciences and provides the opportunity to also apply for a focus area of study in the fields of ecology, evolution and behaviour, cellular and molecular biology or disease biology where students gain thorough, scientifically founded qualifications in a specific area. Students learn to explain the relevant methodology and to give a critical evaluation, to identify, collect, evaluate and correctly interpret scientific information relevant for a certain field, to select appropriate methodology and more. The participants of the course also learn about the various molecular, biochemical and cellular processes underlying cell death induction and regulation and their consequences for health and disease. Furthermore, the program provides a deeper insight into molecular mechanisms of immune regulation and immunopathological disorders of the liver, intestine, and lung, and their pharmacological control.
