Offered by the University of Konstanz, the study course “Bachelor of Arts in Classics and the Ancient Near East” is with a duration of six semesters. The prospective students acquire basic conceptual and methodological knowledge in newer research tendencies and current developments with both practiced philological work techniques, learn how to use tools such as lexicons, indices, encyclopedias, secondary literature, databases as well as basic philological knowledge in transmission history, methods for creating critical text outputs, use of critical outputs, basic elements of ancient metrics for instance prosody, hexameter and distichon, history of ancient science and their relationship to cultural studies. The “Bachelor of Arts in Classics and the Ancient Near East” provides an overview of the most important subjects of Greek and Latin studies, epochs and selected authors of the Greek and Latin literature.
