Provided by the University of Konstanz, the study course “Bachelor of Arts in German Literature” is with a duration of six semesters. The degree program includes knowledge of literary theory, narrative theory, literary history as well as cultural theory. During the course graduates gain knowledge in German literature of all epochs from the Middle Ages to the present as well as all genres of literature for instance prose, poetry, drama and obtain comprehension in the field of linguistics. By imparting the ability to analyze texts functionality, their rhetorical constitution and their historical construction the students develop key qualifications and analytical thinking, learn to draw methodologically controlled comparisons, to classify the present in the historical framework and become able to describe the development of German-language literature in its essential phases, and more.
