Offered by the University of Konstanz the course “Master of Arts in Literature” is with a total length of four semesters. The program provides a unique combination of interdisciplinary philological modules concerning general literary studies with modules focusing on specialist philological subjects. During the course, participants have the opportunity to select their main field of study in English Literature and Culture, French Literature, German Studies, Iberian and Ibero-American Studies, Italian Studies, Latin Studies and Slavistics. “Master of Arts in Literature” primarily conveys extensive technical knowledge and methodological skills in order to teach the prospective students to be able to use literary texts and the cultural, historical, media contexts and to professionally analyze. The study program combines philological-hermeneutic competencies with subject-specific knowledge is focused on a certain cultural area and certain literary traditions while also imparting in-depth knowledge of general cultural theories and theories of generality.
