With a total length of six semesters the program “Bachelor of Arts in Sociology” is offered by the University of Konstanz. The course explores the social actions of individuals, the principles and processes as well as consumer behaviour, family and sexuality, social media, youth cultures and more while analyzing the causes and the effects in order to fully understand and question them. The course imparts knowledge, insights, skills and methods required to sociologically understand social structures, processes and developments and teaches students how to observe, interpret and critically analyze. By providing an introduction to sociological thinking and scientific work including the competencies for communicating sociological results as well as the theoretical principles, basic concepts assumptions of sociology, the program also imparts strong competencies in social scientific analysis of contemporary societies and practice of knowledge in the field of methods of empirical social research and cultural analysis.
