The University of Leipzig, founded in 1409, is a public university seated in Leipzig, Saxony. It is Germany’s second-oldest university. More than 28,000 students are enrolled at the University of Leipzig, which accomodates 14 faculties, namely the Faculty of Theology, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of History, Arts and Oriental Studies, the Philology, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, the Faculty of Economics and Management Science, the Faculty of Sport Science, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, the Faculty of Biosciences, Pharmacy and Psychology, the Faculty of Physics and Earth Sciences, the Faculty of Chemistry and Mineralogy, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Prospective students are offered 154 study courses, including a number of continuing education programs (mostly extra-occupational programs), and extra-occupational postgraduate certificate programs. At Master’s level, the scope of continuing edcuation studies includes the study courses “Corporate Media“, “Clinical Research and Translational Medicine“, “International Energy Economics and Business Administration“, “Mobile Marketing“, “New Media Journalism“, “Public Service Management“, “International Joint Master Programme in Sustainable Development“, “Small Enterprise Promotion and Training“, and “Insurance Management“. Among the extra-occupational postgraduate certificate studies are the study courses “Analytics and Spectroscopy“, “Toxicology and Environmental Protection“, “Sports Management“.
