Dance is a form of performing arts consisting of consecutive rhythmic movements, usually following a sequence of steps. Dancers express themselves through their movements and music. There are many types of dance, which enables the emergence of a variety of Dance courses, the most popular of which ballet and modern dance. Subjects like Dance Science, History of Dance, Choreography, Dance Technique, Dance Administration, Critical Theories and Dance Dramaturgy are taught, but the main focus is on practical training. Students are provided with many opportunities to rehearse and perform on stage and develop the skills that are needed to be successful in the field of Dance – a range of techniques, creatively and confidently express themselves, solve problems, make sound judgments, evaluate and analyze, demonstrate understanding, plan and execute tasks, and work independently and collaboratively. Graduates need to be focused and determined, and ready to audition and work in challenging environments. Career prospects include dancer, choreographer, producer, facilitator, administrator, dance therapist, marketing expert for dancers, dance instructor and many others.
