The Master of Education course “Double Subject School Music for the Higher Teaching Profession at Grammar Schools – Jazz/Popular Music” at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig lasts for four semesters. The consecutive program prepares students for the higher teaching post at grammar schools in the Free State of Saxony. Furthermore, the training helps students further develop their technical-manual and interpretative skills on the main jazz instrument. The curriculum contains the subjects School practical music-making, Musicology, Historical-Systematic, Contexts of Music Education, Music Didactics and others. Students broaden and deepen their pedagogical competencies alongside their artistic skills.
