The University of Music Freiburg, founded in 1946, is a public music university seated in Freiburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Round about 500 students receive a musical and artistic education across the wide range of musical professions. Major subjects include the following subjects: accordion, recorder, harpsichord/fortepiano, choir conducting, electronic media, elementary music education, ensemble singing, bassoon, film score, viola, aural training, vocals, guitar, harp, historical performance practice, horn, clarinet, piano, composition, contrabass, sounds, song interpretation, music & movement/rhythm, music education, music theory, orchestra conducting, oboe, organ, trombone, transverse flute, saxophone, drums, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin, and violoncello. The University of Music Freiburg offers doctoral studies in musicology and music education. Admission to study is subject to the completion of an aptitude test.
