The University of the Arts Bremen, founded in 1988, is a public art and music school seated in Bremen that prepares some 900 students for a professional career in the arts. The university ranks among the few art schools to have the Faculty of Art & Design and the Faculty of Music under one roof. While the Faculty of Art & Design comprises the study programs “Fine Art“ (Diploma program with the following concentrations: Painting, Drawing, Photography, Installation Art, Sculpture, Concepts, Media), “Integrated Design“ (B.A., M.A.), and “Digital Media“ (B.A., M.A.), the Faculty of Music combines the Bachelor/Master programs “Performance“ (B.Mus., M.Mus.), “Music Education“ (B.Mus., M.Mus.), “Church Music“, and “Orchestral Academy“ (M. Mus.). Prerequisite to study at the University of the Arts Bremen is a higher education entrance qualification as well as the completion of an admission examination. People without any higher education entrance qualification can take up studies by providing proof of their artistic aptitude.
