The University of Witten/Herdecke, founded in 1982, is a private university seated in Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia. It is sponsored by the non-profit organization Private Universität Witten/Herdecke gGmbH. The University is organized into three faculties: the Faculty of Health, the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Faculty of Cultural Reflection. It provides education to more than 2,300 students. The Faculty of Health offers the study courses “Medicine“ (State Examination), “Multi-professional Care of People with Dementia and Chronic Illnesses“ (M.A.), “Nursing Science“ (M.Sc.), “Psychology with a Focus on Psychotherapy“ (B.Sc.), “Psychology with a Focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy“ (M.Sc.), as well as “Dental and Oral Medicine“ (State Examination). The Faculty of Business and Economics provides the study courses “Management“ (B.Sc.), “Philosophy, Politics, and Economics“ (B.A./M.A.), and “Management“ (B.A.). On offer in the Faculty of Cultural Reflection are the study courses “Philosophy, Politics, and Economics“ (B.A.), “Ethics and Organization“ (M.A.), “Doing Culture. Education and Reflection of Cultural Processes“ (M.A.), “Philosophy, Cultural Reflection and Cultural Practice“ (B.A.), as well as “Philosophy and Cultural Reflection“ (M.A.). The University of Witten/Herdecke is entitled to confer doctoral degrees.
