The Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, founded in 1992, is a public university seated in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia. It has further locations in Bocholt, and Recklinghausen. Round about 9,000 students are enrolled there in Bachelor and Master degree courses in eight departments: Mechanical Engineering and Facilities Management; Electrical Engineering and Applied Natural Sciences, Informatics and Journalism; Business Studies with Information Technology; Mechanical Engineering and Bionics; Business Law; and Business Engineering. In addition to conventional Bachelor degree courses, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences also offers some dual study courses. These include the courses “Applied Electronics“, “Bionics“, “Electrical Engineering“, “Computer Science. Software Systemy“, “Mechanical Engineering“, “Mechatronics“, “Medical Technology“, “Microsystem Technology“, “Supply and Disposal Engineering“, “Business Studies“, and “Industrial Engineering/Facility Management“. Some study courses are offered in partnership with other institutions, among them the study courses “Journalism and PR“ (in partnership with the Technical Academy of Wuppertal), “Business Management and Innovation Management“ (in partnership with the Bukarest Academy of Economic Studies), as well as “Business Information Systems“ (in partnership with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce North Westphalia).
