Description

By definition, Ergotherapy, or Occupational Therapy, is an academic discipline that studies the use of physical activity and exercise in the treatment of diseases. Ergotherapy is focused on treating physically and mentally impaired people as well as it physical symptoms. Ergotherapy aims to integrate patients with physical, mental or developmental conditions into society by using different methods and techniques to prevent or minimize their disability. Ergotherapy degree programs are interdisciplinary and combine aspects from Medicine and Social Sciences, but typically teach subjects like Occupational Science, Occupational Therapy, Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical Science, Neuroscience, Health Promotion, Applied Therapeutic Science, Physiotherapy, Cognition and Learning Processes and others. A degree course in Ergotherapy provides in-depth theoretical knowledge, but practice is just as important, so students are able to combine lectures with work experience in dual study courses. The most valuable skills for students in Ergotherapy include teamwork, communication, understanding and solving problems, critical assessment and analytical thinking. Potential career paths for Ergotherapy graduates include positions in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, community centers, research institutions and many more.
