Zurich University of the Arts was founded in 2007 and is seated in Toni-Areal, Zurich, Switzerland. With over 2,000 students, it is the largest art university in Switzerland. The university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, along with advanced training in the fields of art, design, music, education, theater, film and dance, and conducts artistic and design research.
Having emerged from the Zurich School of Applied Arts, Zurich University of the Arts is divided into four departments: Performing Arts and Film, Design, Cultural Analysis, Fine Arts, and Music. Teaching at the university is done in an interdisciplinary manner, with special focus being put on practical training. Zurich University of the Arts prides itself on its individual approach towards students, professional practice and incorporation of current topics into the content of study. Research is carried out in the fields of art, design and art education in a unique scientific and artistic way.
Zurich University of the Arts also has its own music label called “ZHdK Records” under which music and films by the students are produced. In addition, there is a magazine called Zett, published in German and English as a print edition and online with new articles every week.
