Isny is a small, historic German city located in the south-eastern part of the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. STUDYING IN ISNY IM ALLGÄU
Despite its size, the city of Isny provides a very good level of higher education. The local Natural Science and Technical Academy (NTA) Isny is a private higher education institution founded in 1945. Today, the university is home to about 300 students. The Academy offers students different degree courses in the areas of physical electronics, food chemistry, computer science, and others. However, the main language of instruction there is German, and there are no courses offered in English. International students applying to the university need to provide proof of their knowledge of the German language. After choosing the right degree course and a university, prospective students need to consider their student accommodation options. In the city of Isny, students can choose between living in student halls of residence and living in a private accommodation. Prospective students tend to look for a nice place to live which also has an affordable price. In Germany, student dormitories are considered the cheapest and most convenient type of student accommodation. There are four student halls of residences in the city of Isny where students can expect to pay a monthly rent between 170 and 200 EUR, including all the utilities. What students need to be aware of is that places are strictly limited and it is better for everyone who wants to get a room in the dormitories to apply as early as possible. Fortunately, students can still rent rooms in shared apartments or even rent a studio just for themselves. The city of Isny offers excellent higher education to all students, but that is not everything. In fact, Isny is a really charming and historic town with lots of things to be seen around. Schloss Isny or Isny Castle is a very famous place in town which attracts many tourists from around the world. The local castle is a unique place to be visit because of the artwork that is presented there. The rooms of the castle actually accommodate the Isny Castle Gallery with works of the famous artist Friedrich Hechelmann. There, visitors will be introduced to pictures and sculptures of the great artist. Another interesting place in Isny is the Water Gate Museum, which used to be a fail house in the past. Today, visitors can gain a close insight into the existence and life of the prisoners. Small cities like Isny are ideal for students because everything is cheaper compared to bigger cities, including rent, food and even prices at cafés and restaurants. Students will be able to eat out from time to time and check out some of the many delicious restaurants in town. In fact, in Isny there are places offering both local dishes and international cuisine. A very famous place people love to eat is a small Italian restaurant situated in the city center called La Vigna. There, the best pasta is made, and the place is full on Friday and Saturday evenings so reservation might be needed. For more exotic tastes, the Thai Yangmak restaurant offers Asian food, as well as some vegetarian meals.
