Ansbach is a German city located in the federal state of Bavaria. In its total area of almost 100 km2, there are approximately 42,000 people living, working or studying there. Located in the heart of Europe, the city of Ansbach is a city that has much to offer, including an excellent level of higher education. Founded in 1996, the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences is a modern higher education institution that is currently home to approximately 2,000 students from all around the world. The university provides students primarily with a practical education and not just with theoretical knowledge. The idea is to create individuals who will be ready to step into their career life right after university. The higher education institution offers a wide spectrum of degree courses students can choose from, including Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Multimedia and Communication, and many others. The main language of instruction is German but there are numerous degree courses which are taught in English, too. Choosing a university and a degree course to study is very important for every prospective student. However, accommodation is the next thing students need to think about before starting their big adventure. In Ansbach, students can either live in a student dormitory or find a place to live themselves. Erlangen-Nuremberg Student Services operates a student dormitory, also called a student hall of residence in the city of Ansbach. Living in a student dormitory is maybe the cheapest and most convenient type of student accommodation. Usually, prices for a room are between 200 and 280 EUR per month. Those who would like to live there should apply directly through the student services, also known as Studentenwerk. However, since places are limited students need to apply as early as possible. Living in a single room in a shared flat close to the city center of Ansbach costs between 320 and 400 EUR with bills included. Studios and one-bedroom apartments are even more expensive – between 500 and 650 EUR per month.

Ansbach is quite a small town but it is really beautiful and has everything students might need, including a vibrant atmosphere and exciting nightlife. Backstage Bar Restaurant is ideal for people who prefer to combine tasty food with good cocktails. Everything from the menu is delicious and decorated in an interesting way. Also, there is a daily cocktail happy hour which might be the perfect excuse for students to visit the place. Urban Lounge and Bar is famous among local students, too. The music is good and cocktails are even better with fair prices. Every place has its charm and there is definitely something for everyone in the city.
