Founded in 1992, the university currently accommodates approximately 2,000 students from both Germany and abroad. The university offers both Bachelor and Master degree programs, mostly in forestry and related fields. Students can choose from multiple degree courses, including Forestry, Sustainable Tourism Management, and even Finance Management. However, prospective students need to keep in mind that the main language of instruction at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development is German. Choosing the right course is maybe the first and at the same time the most important step towards a successful career future, which is why one should take all the time needed to make sure the choice is right. When it comes to student accommodation in the city of Eberswalde, students are advised to look for a place to stay prior to their arrival. One can either stay in a student dormitory (student hall of residence) or find shared accommodation in an apartment with other students. The most convenient and therefore the most preferred type of student accommodation is the good old student dormitory. There are four student halls in the city, all run by the local Student Services (Studentenwerk). However, they can accommodate only approximately 400 students, i.e. there are not sufficient places available for all the students in the city. The availability is strictly on the first-come-first-serve basis, so the earlier one applies, the better. Prospective students may expect to pay between 175 and 300 EUR per month with all the bills included, and a deposit of 300 EUR which must be transferred in advance. For rooms in shared flats in Eberswalde, one pays between 160 and 250 EUR per month.

Although being a small town, Eberswalde has a lot of activities to offer for students who would like to simply relax during the weekend or to have some refreshment during the study days. Another lovely city spot is the Kaffeehaus Gustav. This is a place where a huge variety of sweet and salty delights is guaranteed and therefore it is best to be avoided by people on a diet. No one can resist the quality and the taste of everything made there.
