STUDYING IN HEIDE
Heide may be a small city but it can still provide a very good level of higher education. The West Coast University of Applied Sciences Heide is a public higher education institution which was founded in 1993. Today it is home to nearly 1,500 students. The university offers a big variety of courses at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level, including Business Psychology, International Tourism Management, Industrial Engineering, and many more. After deciding what degree course students want to pursue, they have to think about the student accommodation options available in the city. In Heide, prospective students can choose between living in the student halls of residence, also called student dormitories, and going for private accommodation by finding a room to rent in a shared flat. The cheapest option is, however, living in a student dormitory. The student dormitory in Heide is located only a few walking minutes from the university building and is operated by the Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein. Depending on the type of flat and room (there are furnished and also unfurnished rooms), prices can be between 210 and 235 EUR per month, including the bills. However, the availability is strictly on a first-come-first-serve basis, meaning that the earlier ones applies, the better. Renting a room or a studio outside the student hall can be a little more expensive. A single room in a shared flat close to the city center comes at the price of 310 to 420 EUR per month.
