The oldest institution is the University of Lübeck, established in 1964, educating more than 2,000 students in the fields of Medicine, Natural Sciences and Technology. The Technical University Lübeck, established in 1969 , is the second-oldest university in town. It currently has more than 4,000 students enrolled. The University of Music Lübeck (MHL), founded in 1973, is the third higher education institution in the city and the only music university in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Lübeck is also one of the three locations of the Dual University of Schleswig-Holstein (DHSH).
