Getting around the city can be done by city bus, car, or bike. STUDYING IN OFFENBURG

As mentioned above, here can be found the Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, established in 1964. Today the university enjoys high rankings, providing an outstanding quality of education and excellent study conditions with multiple benefits for all students. With its thriving community of more than 4,500 students from all over the world, Offenburg University is a great place for everyone who seeks qualified teaching and practical education from experts. The university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s programs within the fields of Business, Industrial and Electrical Engineering, IT, Media and Information and Mechanical and Process Engineering. International students can also choose from five programs taught in English. The university is also working closely with more than 70 partner universities worldwide, creating various opportunities for students to pursue placements and internships abroad. New students can find accommodation either in student residences of in private housing. The student residence offers 247 bedrooms in three different modern locations in Offenburg. The prices for renting a room or an apartment range between 190 to 300 EUR with bills included. The rooms and flats vary in size but come fully furnished and include share kitchens and bathrooms. All three locations are within short distance from the campus making it easily accessible with a bike or by walking. Due to the limited availability, students are advised to apply as soon as possible if they prefer to live in a student residence hall. For those who miss their chance to land a spot, there is always the alternative of private housing. The prices there are a bit higher, ranging from 300 to 400 EUR, and may not include utility bills.

Offenburg has on offer many cultural and leisure activities for every taste and preference. Located in the mountains of the Black Forest, the beautiful surrounding region is a great opportunity for adventure seekers to go hiking, cycling, or rock-climbing during the warm sunny days. One of the most popular hiking tours is the Weinwandertag that takes place usually on the first Sunday of September and explores the attractive wine routes with breath-taking views in the Ortenau region. Speaking of wine, Offenburg is known for its winemaking with the countless vineyards growing up the hillsides of the surrounding region. Here, one can experience the German culture through some of the many festivals filled with great music, delicious traditional food, and many different wine-tastings. Beyond its traditions, the narrow streets of Offenburg are also filled with many nice restaurants and taverns where one can enjoy southern German food or try out some international dishes. The city also offers many shopping opportunities and if this is not enough one can always head to Strasbourg for a short day trip and explore the French side of the border.
