Tubingen is a small and beautiful university city in Germany in the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Its total area equals 108.12 km2, with almost 90,000 people living, studying and working in the city. Approximately twenty percent of the inhabitants are actually foreigners from all around Europe. German is the official language in the city of Tubingen. Tubingen has a temperate climate, with warm and nice summers but cold winters. From December through February, temperatures in Tubingen usually are between -2 and 3 °C. In July and August it is very nice even during the night. In summer daily temperatures go up to 23-24 °C. Even though Tubingen is also well-known as “city of the short distances”, it still has a good and very reliable public transportation network. There are several bus lines available and a railway. An interesting fact about Tubingen is that one-third of the inhabitants are actually students. The city attracts hundreds of students, both exchange and full-time ones, thanks to the quality of the higher education provided there. Founded in 1477, The Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen is one of the oldest university in the Federal Republic. It provides an excellent level of research and teaching methods to students from all around the world for more than 500 years already. Currently, the higher education institution is home to almost 30,000 students. The university offers a wide spectrum of degree courses students can choose from. In fact, there are over 280 different degree programs available, including Accounting and Finance, Biochemistry, and Machine Learning. Even though the majority of them are taught entirely in German, there are still degree courses also offered in English as a language of instruction.
