Wedel is well connected to the Hamburg network as the second-largest city in Germany is only about 10 kilometers away. STUDYING IN WEDEL

The University of Applied Sciences Wedel is a renowned institute attracting more than 1,000 students from all countries each year. Founded in 1969 as a privately owned institute, the university is one of the few non-profit higher learning institutes in Germany. Currently, the university is offering eleven Bachelor and six Master degree programs in the fields of Economics, Technology and Computer Science. Apart from the traditional study model, students can also choose between part-time studies and dual studies. Regardless of their choice, young adults can rest assured that they will receive an excellent quality of teaching and practice and be able to share and exchange ideas with their tutors and fellow students. The university is also working towards the development of their international profile by welcoming foreign students and sending current ones abroad on exchange programs. Students coming to pursue their studies in Wedel will have to find a place to live by themselves as the university cannot guarantee a room or a flat for its applicants. There are several housing opportunities, of which living in a student residence hall is the most popular one. Within about ten minutes walking distance, students can find the only residence hall in the city, offering rooms in shared flats. The rent for a place in such a residence varies between 230 and 294 EUR including utility bills. Probably the only disadvantage of living in this particular dormitory is that the rooms here are unfurnished. Having this in mind, students might prefer to also consider looking for a place on the private housing market. Although the number of students might not be as high as it is in other German cities, the lifestyle in Wedel is quite modern and diverse, contributing to the overall friendly atmosphere in the city. Young adults will certainly find a lot of interesting activities to keep them distracted from the long hours of studying.
