Description
The eight-semester study program “Creative Writing for the Stage” grants the graduates a qualification equivalent to a Master’s degree. There are three areas incorporated: creative writing for the stage, dramatic practice and analytical dramaturgy. The first two years end with an intermediate examination, and the following two amplify the subject matter, to also include audio drama and screenplays. The program seeks to involve students from different cultures and generations, so that they contribute their unique standpoint and personality to the workshop and modul-structured course work. Written scene and two texts are the samples needed for the admission. The selective procedure is extremely demanding and tight, only a few candidates will finally enjoy the privelege of undergoing the studies. Independent creative work is encouraged and supported throughout the program, but renowned authors and directors, as well as joint projects with other departments and theatres add to the achievement of the graduates. Students familiarize with specific requirements of scenic writing, enhance their performative and situational imagination to be able to operate equally well in theatre and other media and genres like film, television, radio drama, musical, prose. A very good command of German is expected from the applicants.
