The program “Master of Arts in Cultural Journalism” at the Berlin University of Arts encompasses four semesters altogether, the last one of them being dedicated to the Master Thesis development. The program is taught in German, so a good level of the language (B1) is required. The connection between theory and practice is ensured by working together with cultural and media institutions in Berlin, as well as doing research and projects through seminars and workshops. The 13 study modules cover Cultural competence, Journalistic competence, Media competence, Specialized competence, Professional practice. In order to qualify for admission to this program, proof of a year of journalistic experience should be provided through certificates and samples. The program is based on the notion of continuing professional education, so it emphasizes the identification and treatment of real problem situation and emerging issues in society and economy that have an impact on the cultural trends and events.
