The Berlin University of Arts bachelor’s degree “Bachelor of Arts in Design” offers an eight-semester 240 ECTS curriculum through which, in a modular form, students specialize either in Product or Fashion Design, after the foundation course in the first semester. From the fifth semester on, there is also the possibility of working on a project of the Architrecture/Visual Communication field. Internships form part of the studies, but a six-week preparatory one is also required for admission. The former should be spent in manual working workshops e.g. carpentry, model making workshops, mechanical workshops, metal workshops, tailoring, embroidery, weaving mills. The admission procedure also includes artistic and creartive tasks, as well as careful consideration of the presented digital portfolio. The holistic, interdisciplinary concept of this program is performed through the combination of arts, technologies, humanities, social sciences, experimental approaches and the Studium Generale of the incorporation of UdK Berlin "Diversity in Dialog".
