The length of the program “Master of Arts in Music Therapy” at the Berlin University of Arts is six semesters, spread into eight-block instructions on weekends, plus three intense weeks. It is a part-time program, compatible with work. There are 15 modules to cover the subject areas of Music Therapeutic Basics, Music Practice, Praxeology, Self-reflection, Medical Basics and Psychotherapeutic Expertise, English language research module and the final scientific master's thesis. Supervision, study-related internships and exchange programmes with other European universities are also provided. Eligibility depends on meeting several requirements: comptibile areas of previous study background – music, education, psychology or medicine, one-year professional experience, work shadowing in an institution with clinical-therapeutic focus, from which no more than two years should have passed, artistic talent and knowledge of German. Praxis is the cornerstone of this program, where clinical experience is not interrupted by the theoretical and artistic studies. Prospective places of work include schools, geriatrics, neurology, neonatology or oncology, or practicing music therapy on a freelance basis.
