The program “Master of Music in Piano: Chamber Music and/or Lied Accompaniment” at the Berlin University of Arts has a standard period of four semesters, 120 ECTS, and 4 modules of study: Main instrument, Chamber music (with focus area chamber music or Lied accompaniment), Lied accompaniment (2 focus areas again), and Master concert. Eligibility criteria include a bachelor’s in piano, music talent and a good level of German. Throughout the program, which is structured into individual and group forms, students can rely on study consultations and a student assistant, who is a university lecturer. The goal of the studies is to bring the profession of a pianist as an accompanist or a chamber musician to perfection of the artistic level. The program seeks to expand the repertoire through building technical and performance confidence, expressiveness and independence in style, structure and semantics, auditions preparation and historical awareness in chamber music and lied accompaniment.
