The inter-university program „Master of Arts in Solo/Dance/Authorship” at the Berlin University of the Arts lasts for four semesters, and its language of instruction is English. Academic training goes together with professional artistic practice, through which students gain ownership of implementing their studies into their career. It encompasses the diverse modern trends of body-based performative expression, but lays emphasis on the accomplishing one’s own artistic and technically conscious style. The support of the advisors and the dialogue with peers, as well as research and practice-oriented environment, help shape each artist’s proper style. Knowledge of English has to be given evidence of, a BA degree is also mandatory, save in very exceptional cases. Letters of recommendation, a full CV and a motivational letter, a discursive piece and video samples of the applicant’s body-based and performative practice are required, too. Pre-selection of the candidates preceeds the admission exam.
