The Berlin University of Arts offers the German-taught 240 ECTS Bachelor of Music program “Sound Engineer” in eight semesters. The entrance exam is comprehensive and provides evidence of sufficient knowledge in the following areas – aural and musical-technical hearing, musical styles, genre, perception, dynamics, intonation, music theory, acoustics and harmony. There is also presentation of two different in style pieces on the main instrument, plus a simple piano piece, and, for those who pursue the composition major – discussion of one of the three own presented compositions. The objective of the program is to further develop those areas, and professionally prepare sound engineers, who possess the ability to manage sound artistically, technically and creatively, in accordance with the current audio format requirements. With the support of professional equipment, studios, and the collaboration of the Berlin University of Technology, students gain extensive practical skills and theoretical knowledge to be able to operate in a broad range of musical settings.
