The eight-semester bachelor “Bachelor of Arts in Voice/Music Theatre” program at Berlin University of Arts is targeted at highly-talented applicants who could address the greater present-day demand for professional singers, musicians and performers. Vocal training, repertoire, dramatic theory, elocution, Italian, voice physiology, movement, piano, music theory and the history of music are conceived to be the basis of the studies. The vocal programmes of the UdK includes contemporary music alongside the historical review and the classical one, which the Institute of New Music helps with. Close collaboration with the departments, which provide for the stage, is essential. These involve Conducting, Piano, Sound Engineering, Stage Design and Costume Design. Inter-faculty Studium Generale is an inseparable study mode of the course. The individual artistic talent of the students flourishes and matures under the close supervision and guidance of esteemed academics and professionals in the field. Pre-selection and a comprehensive entrance examination preceed the start of the program, and German language is a must.
