The “Bachelor of Science in Midwifery” program at Bern University of Applied Sciences prepares students for critical tasks in midwifery, both independently and in close collaboration with other healthcare specialists. Over the course of 6 full-time semesters, followed by a 10-month additional internship module, students are taught about the midwife’s autonomous function and interprofessional collaboration with other healthcare specialists, with the goal of maintaining and improving the well-being of both mother and child. Admissions to the program are restricted, and candidates must complete a binding aptitude assessment in German.
