The “Bachelor of Science in Midwifery for Qualified Nurses” program at Bern University of Applied Sciences is offered for students with experience in nursing. During 5 part-time semesters, the curriculum emphasizes the midwife's autonomy and interprofessional collaboration with other healthcare professionals, with the objective of preserving and increasing both mother and child's well-being. Graduates are able to coordinate and provide care, counselling and monitoring for the mother, child and family during the period encompassing preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum period and nursing, up to the child’s first birthday.
