The study “Master of Science in Data Science” at Bielefeld University has a length of four semesters. The goal of the course is to introduce students to the different aspects of data analysis. The syllabus contains the modules of Foundations of Statistics, Applied Optimization, Topics in Contemporary Statistics, Statistics in Practice, Ethical, Legal and Social Impacts, and concludes with a Master's degree. Participants acquire broad theoretical knowledge and develop critical thinking, analytical and solve-problem skills. Admission is restricted, and candidates must have a university degree in Data Science. Graduates start careers in database development, web content management, web research, system administration, data mining, cyber security, information analysis, IT consultancy and other possibilities.
