The "Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Science" program at the Brandenburg University of Technology has a length of seven semesters. The applied midwifery study training imparts the professional and personal skills necessary for independent and thorough midwifery work in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Students acquire all of the knowledge and skills necessary to independently and comprehensively advise and care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and the breastfeeding phase. The Midwives Act and the Study and Examination Ordinance for Midwives serve as the legal basis for the study program and the application process. Graduates start working in hospitals, freelance work, academic activity, teaching at universities and counselling work in various social welfare offices, state or church institutions.
