Biotechnology is an important scientific field which solves problems and is applied in genetic engineering, the production of therapeutic proteins and other drugs, as well as in environmental cleaning and agricultural production. The Bachelor-level program at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences has a length of 7 semesters. Subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Bioprocess Engineering and more, are taught entirely in German. The Biotechnology program has restricted admissions and requires a general university entrance qualification. There are various prospective career paths which graduates can embark on. Job positions in biotechnological companies, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, environmental engineering, and apparatus and plant construction are just some of the possibilities.
